Couples can benefit from counselling at any stage in their relationship. Not all couples come to counselling when in a crisis. Some couples come to gain a deeper understanding of themselves as a couple and to help build solid foundations. Some couples come when they find the relationship in difficulty and it can be helpful to come to a space where there is an opportunity to improve and change the relationship.
Having an independent third party there to listen and support can be important because at times we may find the friends and family in our lives are unable to be impartial. There may be times when communication has broken down or is not working in the most healthiest and helpful of ways and coming to therapy can help the couple identify patterns and we work together to break patterns that may have formed. A relationship can go through many changes and sometimes it needs a bit of help to move through these changes.
